Delightful description of a classic Seattle trip.

A visit to the Japanese American Exclusion Memorial is well worth taking a car over to the island. I found it very powerful in Sept 2024: https://redharparts.wordpress.com/2024/09/12/let-it-not-happen-again/

It really was an amazing day! So far, the brick has been really working well for me. I shall check back in in a month!

What a wonderful adventure close to home 😍 When the weather warms up, I'm planning on "traveling" more in my own city and hopefully fill a sketchbook with some of the neat things that I find!

Yes! "Traveling" in our own city is so refreshing and I felt more bold and curious too, even talking to three strangers today was already completely out of my typical comfort zone. I look forward to exploring more of Washington this year.

That's something I really love about Seattle. Being able to just experience so many lovely things on a whim if you have the time. I've also been "bricking" my phone a little more often (just basically putting it on do not dusturb mode for socials) and it's definitely helping my brain.

I didn't think Brick would work, but it really did! Now I wish I'd started using it sooner. I have zero self-control so I really need this kind of "forced lock down" mechanism to keep me from doomscrolling. I also look forward to more "small trips" within Seattle in the future.

"I’ve always wanted to write like Peter Mayle"-- surely I cannot be the only reader who saw that sentence and thought, "Omg, but she does!"

How fun! Thank you for taking us on this adventure. I’ve never seen orcas in Seattle - what a treat!

Also, love that Cookie is ready for Sunday.💚💙

I loved how you turned your day around. Thanks for showing us around Seattle! Enjoyed the photos and writing so much.

I had a similar experience on Saturday morning because I deleted Instagram on my phone (for some reason I hate browsing on my iPad so my phone was really the culprit). Because it was so cold I decided against taking out my earbuds and just walked around and sat with my thoughts and feelings. Felt uncomfortable at first but I came home feeling recharged and having a clearer mind.

Here’s to actively disconnecting!

How special that you got to see orcas with your own eyes! And what are the chances that the person who sent you photos was also named April? A truly amazing moment.

Thanks for sharing your spontaneous day. I've come to enjoy my neighborhood and local outings a lot more within this past year, too.
